After a stellar karting career, Cameron moved to cars in 2005 with immediate success. Competing in Formula Russell as a rookie, he won the title with six wins.  In 2006 he finished runner-up in the U.S. F2000 Championship. That fall Cameron won a Team USA Scholarship to race in the Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy in Europe, which he won.

In 2007 Cameron competed in Star Mazda and won the title with three race wins. He also made his Sportscar debut, driving for Chip Ganassi in a Daytona Prototype. He graduated to Formula Atlantic in 2008 - scoring 2nd place from pole on debut. Cameron switched his focus full time to sportscars in 2009, contesting the Rolex Series in the GT class

By 2011, Cameron began to make his mark - scoring pole, fastest race lap, most laps led and victory for Genoa Racing in LMPC at Sebring. He also finished seventh in the GT points for Dempsey Racing in a Mazda RX-8.  In 2012, Cameron scored his first Rolex Series GT win en route to finishing sixth in the points for Team Sahlens. Cameron also had two ALMS starts with Dempsey Racing in LMP2 and recorded the fastest LMPC lap at Sebring.

For 2013, Cameron graduated to the Daytona Prototype class with Team Sahlens on a full-time basis. Cameron’s scored pole and completely dominated the race at Road America before suffering a driveshaft failure. He also set pole and led laps in the final ever Rolex Series race at Lime Rock. In the ALMS, Cameron was drafted in by PR1 for the final four races to team with Mike Guasch. Cameron’s pace was immediate. He captured three poles and combined with superb race stints enabled his co-driver to clinch the LMPC title.

In 2014, Cameron dominated the GTD class in the IMSA Tudor United Sportscar Championship. With four wins in the Turner Motorsports BMW Z4, he clinched the driver’s title. He also drove in the Long Beach Tudor Series event with Risi Competizione (GTLM), and served as the team’s test and development driver. 

For 2015, Cameron signed to compete for the defending champion Action Express Prototype team, driving the Whelen Corvette. With wins at Detroit and Road America he finished third in the championship. He also returned for a one off race in GTD winning at Lime Rock Park for Turner Motorsports. Cameron is now the winningest driver in the Tudor Series with 7 victories.

Cameron charged to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Prototype championship in 2016 with Eric Curran. The duo won at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Road America en route to scoring the title victory for Action Express Racing. He and Curran will defend their title win aboard the new-for-2017 Cadillac factory supported Daytona Prototype International chassis.
